CURRICULUM & SYLLABUS OF D.EI.ED COURSE IN TAMIL NADU
In the light of NCF 2005, the Government of Tamil Nadu revised the curriculum and syllabus of teacher Education in 2008. Duration of the course is two academic years with 220 working days, each with 1100 hours in a year.

The trainees undertake observation and teaching practice in primary schools. They do various assignments under the guidance of the faculty members of teacher education institutions. They go on Field trips organized by the institutes to have experiential learning.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT:
Internal Assessment is done each year for Taught Courses, Practicum and Teaching Practice with weight age of Marks 175, 625 and 60 respectively. Panel of Examiners for Internal Examination is prepared at TNSCERT.
The trainees are engaged in teaching practice in primary schools which is supervised by guide teachers and faculty members of teacher education institution. The trainees are assigned grades as given below.
Minimum for pass is 50% in Internal Examination (āCā Grade)

EXTERNAL EXAMINATION:
External Examination is conducted every year. The Directorate of Government Examination conducts the External Examination. Each theory paper carries 100 marks and 25 marks internal. The successful candidates who score a minimum of 50% in each paper are awarded with Diploma certificates. TNSCERT develops the Annual academic calendar for D. El. Ed course as per the NCTE norms. The calendar is prepared in consultation with TNSCERT academic faculty, Principals and senior faculty of DIETs and representatives of private TTIs.
